Quick Questions, For the Masses

Howdy, friends! Thanks to everybody who welcomed me back yesterday. I'm still riding the happy from my weekend, and all your kind comments and shared thoughts really added to my buzz. I can't stop smiling! You guys are awesome. It means a lot when you take the time to comment on my entries, so thanks very much.

I have a question. Do y'all comment on your visitors' comments, or do you leave it alone? Cruising the blog-o-sphere, I notice a healthy amount of both. What's your preference? Normally I don't comment on my own blog. I do, however, read every single comment made and if someone asks me a direct question I try to answer it, either in the comments or in a future blog entry.

And I have another question... But first, do the happy dance with me, BECAUSE I PASSED 125 followers yesterday! Welcome, everyone! Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog! I hope you find some good reads here (I'll direct you to some of my favorite posts on Friday). Since I passed the 125 mark, I'm adding the MYSTERY PRIZE to the giveaway booty list! (Booty list... heh.) So, the question is... would you like to know what the mystery prize is on Friday when I give you a Pay it Forward update, or wait until the contest is over to find out?

Many thanks for your thoughts, friends.

Have a fantastic Hump Day!

Hi B! Well I do comment on visitor's comments sometimes. It really depends if I have time. If I don't have time within the same day, or the next morning, I leave it. I can't do everything all the time. I'd prefer to go and comment on their blogs though, so that's my first priority. If I have time after that then I comment on my own post. Also if someone asks me a question, then yes I do reply. Sometimes by email instead. You sound well! so glad! xx

I answers comments if there is a special question they have particulary asked but I'm afraid I don't otherwise, perhaps I should as I have noticed others who do.

You are enjoying the word "Booty" far too much! :D Make the mystery prize a mystery til you announce the winner.
And as for comments... I try to do responses two ways. One, by adding my own comments to everyone else's or responding in an email. However, there are times when the email doesn't work.
I follow a couple of blogs where I have left comments, but got no response either in the comment section or otherwise and sort of makes me feel like when I'm talking to someone and they don't respond because they aren't listening. That's just me though. I know other people are far too busy to respond to everyone.

I do try to comment on every comment, eventually. Sometimes I spend the better part of an afternoon catching up on the last week :-(

And I would rather just wait and watch.

I do a little of both but generally feel that to return the favor and comment on the commenters blogs is the best way since a lot of time commenters don't return to my blog to read my response to them anyway. I also try to make responses that add to the discussion instead of just thanks, I agree with what you just said etc.

If someone leaves a comment on my blog, then I answer them in that comment section, or thank them for stopping by. If time is running really short, I do a general thank you comment to everyone. If they ask a particular question, I will answer it by e-mail because some things just deserve some privacy but I don't e-mail every one a comment.

And I am one of those people who do check back on other blogs to see if the author has commented on my comment.

Since you've asked, I do respond to visitors' comments if I have something to say. It helps me connect with them.

I respond to all my comments, although I know most people don't check back with a blog later, unless they've asked a question.

I usually respond via email if they have one linked. Though, they don't always.I comment on the blogs I follow and TRY to get to those who commented but don't have an email linked. Does that makes sense?

With the little time I get at the computer, I'd prefer to comment on others' Blogs, and if what they say merits a response, I'll do it on their Blog to be sure they find it:) I cherish every comment though!

I do try and comment on my blog comments. I want my readers to know that I take the time to read their comments and care about what they have to say.

It's not for everyone, it can be time consuming, but it is for me. :)

I try to comment to make sure my commenters know I've read it. I try to go back and follow up but it's hard to keep track. We are only human! :) Congrats on 125!!

However i may be getting away from that in the future

Great question! I tend to try to acknowledge comments on my blog posts where I can. Once or twice I'll pop in and say thanks for commenting or answer a question. And if there's a whole LOTTA comments, I might do a mass response (i.e., "thanks everyone for commenting!!")But I think it's important to acknowledge the comments in some way. Time definitely prevents a response to every single comment, but I just do what I can to make people feel welcome and included (which includes visiting their blogs and commenting).

I try to comment to everyone who leaves a comment, though sometimes I've got a lot of the same KIND of comments, then I will comment to the group together. ALSO try to visit THEIR blogs, but that doesn't always work if they don't blog daily or even *gasp* don't have blogs.

I think it just feels more interactive that way.

And like my Thursday twin... I'd rather WAIT to know...

Congratulations!

I leave replies to many of my comments in my own journal. I tend to visit the blogs I watch, but if I notice a new commenter, I try to visit them. If not the first time, then the second time they comment.

Yeah! Mystery prize!
I confess, I almost never go visit a blog from a comment left on my site. Yes, that's terrible. I visit those who follow through the dashboard, though. And I didn't reply on my site in the past, but I began doing so last month.

I recently changed my practice on commenting on comments on my blog because I just didn't have the time to respond thoughtfully to each comment as well as read the blogs of bloggers who were commenting. Now if I get a comment I click through to comment on their blogs.

I try to comment on the comments but then, I don't have as many followers as you :-)

I like to comment on the comments, but that might change if I hit more than 30 comments. I try and visit the blogs of the people who leave comments as well - but again, if I had as many followers as you, I'd be worried about missing someone.

Congrats on the 125!

I usually do reply to comments, I don't tend to get as many as you though :) I've been shockingly awful at answering comments this month though. Not to mention posting. Aaargh.

I do try and visit their blogs too (I end up following a lot of my commenters) although again, that's been honoured more in the breach than in the observance over the last few weeks :(

I suppose I'm just a talker, I comment on every comment from facebook to my blog and back. I guess it's because it seems like it's the only way to talk to people anymore. Usually, I'll con them with food, so they'll be forced to peel their eyes off their computer screens and come join me in the sunlight. (ha, I'm evil)
